The gallery is proud to announce that Marie-Jeanne van Hövell tot Westerflier will present her solo exposition at Fraeylemaborg from February 9th until May 19th 2019.
Photographer Marie-Jeanne van Hövell to Westerflier is known from her timeless black and white photographs of interiors of Amsterdam canal houses. In 2014 she published her praised publication Hidden beauty. In recent years, Marie-Jeanne photographed the Fraeylemaborg in all seasons. She usually works in black and white, but this time she also made color shots with her Hasselblad camera. The tranquil, timeless and scenic recordings of the Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren and a number of canal houses in Amsterdam leave a world of beauty to see, sometimes full of grandeur and sometimes very simple. Marie-Jeanne photographs without artificial light and always uses it changing light. She can wait for hours in a room for the right light to achieve the maximum result. A perfectionist with an eye for detail. Keywords of her own being silent: austerity, light, beauty and attuned colors.
The opening ceremony will be performed by prof. dr. Titus M. Eliëns on friday February 8th at 4 PM in the ‘Grote zaal’ van Fraeylemaborg. You are welcome to attend.
