Due to great interest the exposition of Marie-Jeanne van Hövell tot Westerflier in our gallery in Amsterdam is extended until October 5th. This solo exposition shows highlights from three different series of the work of the fineart photographer.
‘Contemplation Stills’, shows several highlights from her still live series. Delicately balanced in color and objects. This creates images with a unique character. The simplicity and honesty in her photography are her signature and an asset in a time of far-reaching computerization of art photography.
‘ At the window’ is shot with an analog Hasselblad camera and she only uses natural light in her photos. The medium format of her camera gives her images here and there a picturesque blur and, like an old master, she uses the light that falls on the subject through a window or door.
‘The White Blouse’ Marie -Jeanne made a series of 75 portraits of women and men, adults and children, acquaintances and strangers, all in or with the over one hundred year old lace blouse that once belonged to her great aunt. A selection of this serie is on exposition in our gallery and an other selection is presented in the ‘Singer Museum’ in Laren. Worthwhile a visit too.
